Introducing Xiao’s Corner
Hello, our dear readers! Yi and I have decided to have a new session within our blog. This new session is called Xiao’s Corner, simply because I shoot almost all of my outfits in the little corner of my room. My experience as the co-founder of this blog To Z and meeting with fashionistas in New York City helped me develop a much better vision of style creation. That led to my decision to start this session. My goal is to pick up items (of course, very affordable items) every one or two weeks and match them with the old items I have in my closet. YEAH CLOSET SAVED! It would be a great honor of mine if you guys can find any inspiration from the posts.
Something To Buy: TOPSHOP Embroidered Mom Jeans
Many of you might have the same experience that when you go to a clothing store searching for something specific, you end up finding nothing. Damn, that happened to me 3 weeks ago! On the other hand, hanging out with besties in a clothing store might get you some surprises. And yes, that happened to me 2 weeks ago!
So I was on the second floor of the TOPSHOP store in SoHo New York, waiting for Yi trying items in the fitting room. I don’t know how that happened, but I did walk directly to somewhere of the sale section and saw a pair of white jeans with rose embroidery on both sides, up and down as well. That was love of first sight. I bought them without even knowing what top and shoes to put on. Btw, the price of the jeans is only $55, half down the original. And students don’t forget to get another 10% off using your student IDs! It cost me only $49.5. For sure it’s a value deal!
When the pants are not plain, I normally go for simple top and shoes. Although a big contrast in terms of color, my black sweater, denim jacket and black sock boots did create something unique with this pair of Mom jeans.
I used to wear boyfriend jeans a lot, because they do reshape my legs: I guess the loose trousers actually reshape people’s vision and make us think the actually legs inside are slimmer. Now Mom jeans become the new love. The pants are neither too loose nor too tight. This is important when I want my legs to look straighter than they actually are (fyi, skinny pants don’t.) Another thing about Mom jeans is that, they have a high waist, which move up the waist line and lengthen the legs visually (fyi, low waist pants don’t.) So together, there are two times of reshaping.
Something To Buy: ZARA Sweater w/ Contrasting Fabric Cuffs
Although matching white pants with black other things was good, for me, the perfect one to go with white should be RED. I was picturing an outfit basically made of only white and red. Guess what! A Zara sweater and my old red Zara ankle boots brought my thought into reality.
I personally consider this outfit my best ever — NICE & CLEAN. Putting my hair inside the roll neck made the outfit distracted by the hair. So much fun was just involved while playing around the colors. The base color is white, but every red thing is so necessary and eye-catching. You can either wear this Zara sweater with its long sleeves swinging or push the sleeves a bit up.
This pair of Mom jeans actually saved my red ankle boots, which I was not wearing for a while. This pair of red ankle boots has the skinny low heels and the sharp head, which shape the feet very well. The boots are as simple as their plain design, at the same time, as sharp as their color. Believe it or not, sharp-headed shoes do make your legs look longer. If you have slim ankles, ankle boots should be a great fit. Here are two detailed shots for the jeans + boots combination.
I definitely have a big shoutout to the Zara sweater with contrasting fabric cuffs! Love it! At the price of $69.99, the material on the cuffs are smooth as well as shiny. What’s spacial about the cuffs is that they have different colors. I had imagined a plain rice white sweater to match my rose embroidered Mom jeans, but not this one. It simply outranges any others that I saw with its loose fit, unique cuffs and warm feeling.
I welcome all your comments both here and on Instagram. Wish me good luck in finding my next great item and post soon!
